OK, well I understand the problems of building a "negative ground" PNP version, so just had to try an "NPN" version using AC127's.
Torchy kindly sent me some data on the composition of germanium NPN transistors, so I wasn't hoping for much . . . . .
Well damm it, it works and sound  BLOODY GREAT !!  pics...

I just reversed the 2.2uf and 22uf caps and wired the battery positive to board and negative to input jack ring - as a "normal" build would be.
I only got one "pair" from 30 AC127's .... which were hfe of 74 for Q1 and
140 for Q2, the rest were too far off or "leaky"
The 10k trim pot is at "max" and this bias sounds correct, reads 9k8 !!
I used a 0.068 output cap so there's a "tad" more bass but no "mud".

Here's some shots of last weeks "Fuzz" builds, I've had no time to put
them in enclosures as yet :

Moddified "Lofo Mofo" ( not tytewadd! )

So it "is" possible and means you can wire for "-" ground ! cool eh ?

Comments welcome . . ..
Cheers,
Marty.

Those look great MM.  I think I've got to jump in the pool and build a FF.  I've still only done Rangemasters and a breadboard TBMKII...

They are great !, I'd be careful about the "NPN" version above, as they can be a nightmare to get right ( so i'm told! ) and perhaps I just got lucky, but "matching" a pair of tranny's helps A LOT ! Q1 around hfe 70 and Q2 around 120-140 should work well.

Thats the place to get the info and make it work !!
