I have added a 3PDT switch to my V847 wah. I was wondering exactly how to hook up a LED light to it. Also I would like to find out how to add a 9V adapter so where if the adapter quit on or got unplugged the battery would take over. Would appreciate any info, diagrams, & info on parts I would need on this. Thank you.

Did you ever think of clicking on some of those links at the top of this page? ...like maybe "DIY FAQ" for instance?  If that's too difficult, these two links should take you to the info you need:

You can find all the parts you need at www.smallbearelec.com, www.mouser.com, or www.lsdiodes.com.

Yeah it helped a little but i need to see how it would be hooked up in a Vox wah pedal.  thanks for being so nice to a new comer!

I think the easiest way is to install a 3dpdt switch.

How to wire a 3dpdt switch is available on several sites.

Ah...when you said you had the 3PDT switch installed I assumed that meant you had it wired already.

This is about as clear as it gets:

If you're still having trouble you'll have to post a pic of the guts of your wah wah pedal and I or someone else can try and help you sort it out.

I have already installed a 3dpdt switch and wired it up, used the diagram from stewmac to do it with. It also has a diagam of how to add a LED but where does the resistor go and does the positive end connect straight to the battery or is there somewhere else you can connect the + end to like on a sleeve hot tip or one of the prongs on the 3dpdt switch. also where does the ground connect to. The sleeve ground? Look here and see if you can explain.

I also was looking for a diagram on how to install a dc 9V adapter plug that would cut the battery off when pluged in and revert to battery if unpluged by accedent.

Powering effects at this link   http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/  scroll down the left side to "tech pages".

There's a discussion in the beginner's section on how to wire an LED.

Good info but none of these goes with a Vox wah pedal. Look at the link below and go to the bottom of the page where it shows how to hook up a LED and explain where the 2 leads go to exactly and where the resistor goes. Does the positive end connect straight to the battery or is there somewhere else you can connect the + end to like on a sleeve hot tip or one of the prongs on the 3dpdt switch. also where does the ground connect to.

It has to be like this diagram on this stewmac site. I just don't understand what goes where.

Looking at  Diagram 3 for single color Led, resistor to lug 8, opposite end to + of the Led then, - Led to ground, then lug 7 to 9v+ power jacksocket, this is what I think to be correct however there are  plenty of Guys on here that will be know 100% if this is correct

Actually, they all can go to a Vox Wah Pedal. You're asking a general question about hooking up an LED. All will be wired similar and since most people don't require an LED on their wah pedal you probably won't find anything specific to a wah.  Now onto the question -

QuoteDoes the positive end connect straight to the battery or is there somewhere else you can connect the + end to like on a sleeve hot tip or one of the prongs on the 3dpdt switch.

Does the + end of what connect to the battery? I assume you are referring to the LED? The positive end of the battery goes to the switch. The positive end of the LED goes to a resistor - negative to ground.

You can connect the 9V from anywhere you have 9V - not just directly from the battery. Ground is the same - anywhere there is a ground you can run a jumper - jacks are good places for grounds.

okay i finally understand. Thanks I had already changed the switch, pot, inductor and tone mods to the resistors & caps. it's the simple things that confuse me sometimes.

Thank you Al and everyone else for the help, it was a success and I can see for sure if my wah is on or not when doing gigs. If anybody is wondering where the best place to mount the LED is, I found that the best place for me is on the left side as far to the front as possible almost in the corner then even when you have your foot on the pedal you can see it. thanks again!

Great!! Glad we could be of assistance. And thanks for the LED placement info.
