poly film caps are usual better quality than myler. but mostly its not a big thing.

Poly-what films?

Unless it's specified, film capacitors usually are mylar. Mylar is also know as polyester, BTW.

For effects circuits, it almost never makes a difference between polyester, polystyrene, polycarbonate, polytetrafluoroethylene (that's teflon), or other poly's. They do all have special characteristics, but for limited audio frequencies and low impedances like most of our circuits, the special stuff isn't important.

The biggest difference is usually cost.

Mylar/polyester will work fine in 99.99% of all effects circuits, and I'd be very surprised if a double blind listening test could identify a tonal difference between them and more exotic caps.
