I'm working on a distortion pedal and I think I want to try something new. Basically, I want to replace the 5K "Drive" pot with a switch that will have a preset distortion level. I'm thinking about using an ON-ON-ON switch. at 0 ohms, it's full on, wide open distortion. At 5K there is no distortion present. What should I use for the 3rd resistor? Any ideas? :?

A pot with 2 connections use between 0k and 5k fixed resistor[s...
 A pot with 3 connections...
 2k5 + 2k5 = 5k or..
 1k + 4K = 5k
 3k + 2k - 5k
fixed resistors emulating linear pot settings...

Convention creates following, following creates convention.

I think I got it...

(open)
2K2
470

It goes from clean (2K2), to a little dirty(470), to very heavy(open)... It's very sensitive and I can really control the amount of distortion with just the guitar volume knob...
