Not FX related, but guitar related (gearless tuners)

Does anyone have any experience with the Steinberger Gearless Tuners for a regular guitar? The ones that you tune from the back of the headstock. Mainly, are they cool or a total pain in the butt? And would I need string trees for a Strat if I used these? I normally use the Sperzel locking tuners, and they have graduated string heights so you don't need string trees. Thanks!!

Anyone? Or even suggestions for online research? I already checked Harmony Central, and a few sites that sell them, and the official site. And I think they could be very cool (or at least a conversation piece).

I don't think there are too many in circulation yet. I'm planning a kit guitar, and was thinking of trying them. I was thinking they might work well for rapid banjo tuner-like pitch changes, ala Adrian Legg.
