1. What is the best multi-pedal power supply? I want to power MANY 9v pedals, so i need respectably amperage from this device.

2. When you put a resistor across lugs of a pot, does it actually act exactly like a different value pot, or does it vary in taper as it goes across?

3. Anyone who has bought from circuit specialists and been backordered... how long does it take them to restock?? i ordered enclosures and diodes and they still say they have no stock after 2 weeks!?

I'd say the Spyder from Geofex...that's just Imo, and trust me...it won't be that cheap...if your a poorer person (as I am), than just wait a day or two and I'll post my $8 power supply (powers up to 15 pedals...but is done rather cheaply...)

http://www.diystompboxes.com/analogalchemy/ <--- Look there...but for a general answer, it does one, the other, or both, depending on the setup.

I have no clue...but from what I've heard they are really quick and awsome (I've NEVER heard a single bad comment about em). Best bet is to quickly email them and find out.

Cheers,

Nish

Edit: Note, the EMH (Electronics Math Helper) is what you want to see for answer two.

15 pedals? i approve!  :D  post it! hurry!

the pot thing i get now. thanks for the link!

i think i will keep waiting for a while longer. i am in no hurry about those things... just wondering if they only get backorders at the start of the month or something...

Figure on an average of 12-15ma current consumption per pedal.  Some will use much less, some much more.  In that respect, just about any 9vdc/300ma wall-wart, suitably regulated will power what many would consider to be "many" pedals.

What the Spyder addresses is the task of running power TO multiple pedals without other types of issues being a problem.  That being said, I've used a daisy-chain power cord from a common 100ma supply for years with little problem.

Mark's hit on my genius idea. First off, you buy a bridge rectifier (it converts AC to....semi DC really well). Then you go to your nearby thrift store/junk shop, and  buy a 9v-12V adaptor that's rated for 1000ma. Then you go, and you buy a LM350T (adjustable voltage regulator), and you set it for 9V...and your done..for those who are confused, I'll post the schemo here today.

Parts List:

Bridge DIP-4 1A 100V (Mouser #583-DB102)
LM350T TO-220 3A adjust. Voltage Regulator (Mouser# 512-LM350T)
Couple of Resistors
Couple of caps
2 x 1N4002 (Mouser# 625-1N4002)
2 x 3300 uf 16V caps (mouser# 140-XRL16V3300)

well...around $10 + a suitable AC adaptor (I peck em up for around $2-3 Canadian...not hard to find. The whole job reallly depends on the supply used, but if used with a 12V 1000ma adaptor, you get 9V filtered and regulated @ 1 Amp...enough to power tons of pedals. I'll post a schemo later.

Circuit Specialists? I have ordered from them several times and always had good luck with one exception... the time I had some test probes backordered. It took approx. 2 months to get a set of oscilloscope test leads. That's pretty ridiculous. Sorry to spring that one on you - and I hope mine was an isolated incident - that's waaaay too long for something like that.

It seems that some of the enclosures are always backordered at CC.

Pedalworx.com alos has great deals on enclosures.  Just e-mail George for more info.

As for the power supply I once just used a 1000mA regulated wallart from RS and plugged it into a junction box I made with about 12 dc jacks to power my pedals.  It worked great with no problems.

OK 1. Is it possible to ski through a revolving door? 2. Should I give up comfort for fashion? 3. Will a washer for a Delta faucet fit in a Moen faucet? That's as unrelated as I could get for now, but I'll keep you posted!
Homer: "Mr. Burns, you're the richest man I know"            Mr. Burns: Yes Homer It's true... but I'd give it all up today, for a little more".

Here:

1. Not unless they're skis designed for midgets, elves, and little people (difference?)

2. HELL YA....and people question my leather underpants?

3. Moen? Delta? What's the difference? it's all made in China!!

Cheers,

Nish

P.S. Schemo comin' tommorow
