hello, i am wanting to build a pedal with a rangemaster style trebleboost (negative ground) and a lpb2 style clean boost in it, circuit diagrams here -
http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/diagrams/lpb2_sc.gif
http://fuzzcentral.tripod.com/rangemaster/rangeblasterschematic.gif

problem being finding the parts, i cant seem to find the 2n388 transistor the rangeblaster uses anywhere... i had quite a few uk suppliers where i could order all the bits i needed (i have the enclosure and switches, only the actual componenets i need really) but when i went back to order i couldnt find the 2n388 anywhere, i havent looked for the parts for the lpb2 yet...

does anyone know where i could get all the parts i need for building these two pedals, and from a uk supplier (no customs or charges for converting form £ to $ and everything)

much thanks

David

I believe 2n388 has been discontinued. I did a search and found it to be an item in a PCMuseum.

You could look for substitutes with hfe=80 as Phillip Bryant suggests. AC122, perhaps? You shouldn't have any problems finding 2n5088 though.
Good luck!

Try an AC127 - hfe 50. ESR have them for about 50p
