Superfuzz Electrolytic polarity? Octave trim or pot?

I'd like to ask those people who have built or own a superfuzz or variant a few questions.

1)  I have looked at half a dozen of these schems and half seem to say that the caps on either side of the diodes are facing the same way(pos towards the input), and the other half say their negative leads are facing each other. Which is it?

b)  Is the octave trimpot worthwhile mounting as an external pot? I'd like control over the octave if possible. How fiddly is the adjustment of the balance?

Also,

3) I am planning to use a on/off/on switch to switch between ge diodes, no diodes, and silicon, is it best to place the switch between the diodes and ground or between the diodes and signal.

I have had superfuzzes with different polarities. Pos. toward input on both is correct.

Either way with the switch should be fine. I would probably have the ground on the pole so I could hook it to a nearby pot or jack.

Good luck!
