I have a hammond C sized box.. I have a IEC inlet into the box, should i connect the ground pin from the IEC to the box??

It's two small trannys inside the box, one for 230V AC - 9V DC..
And one for 230V AC - 18 DC..

Thanks,

RB

I assume this is a PSU, if so -yes, find a way to connect ground to the box.  I drilled and tapped a 6-32 thread for the ground connection.  You can also just drill and bolt it but it doesn't look as good IMHO.  check out ggg's pics on his 4 output isolated PSU.  ggg= gerenalguitargadgets.com

well, put it like this.

If something goes pear shaped inside the box, and mains electricity shorts to the box, you have two scenarios.

One; ungrounded box = box is live with mains potential electricity.

two; grounded box = the circuit breaker trips and no one gets zapped.

Every metal cased appliance with mains power attached MUST have a grounded chassis.
