I think stronger language or something is in order to help those with this problem.
 If your box doesn't respond the way you want when you push your shoe on it, reading what to do when it doesn't work will help figure your problem out.
 The voltage of the battery used in question might.
 The schematic you're working from certainly will.
 For the record, most people have N/P with a wide variety of shoe types.
