Hi,

I want to build myself a pre-amp it don't have to be more than one channel.. But i need HIGH gain..!!
Dimmu Borgir and Children of Bodom tones (i play more Bodom than Dimmu)

hmm let me think...
does it have to be tubes?
i don't have the dimmu borgir sound in my head...
don't forget equalizing before and after a distortion device can bring a lot of voicing.

Build one...
The PS is the 'hard part' for me, the 'circuit part is about the same as wiring a distortion or Jfet Amp sim. Maybe you have an output amp with high voltage on the tube that you can use as a preamp PS Tap....and the unusual warnings that you can kill yourself messing with big tube amp innards.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

The AMZ Minibooster (based on a high gain FET mu amp) should do the trick.  I take it you are driving a valve amp.

Ok let's say the Hi Gain lead channel on a ENGL amp..

That is the type of sound i'm after..

Build Ricky's Heavy Metal Pedal and add a good EQ. Or use Zakk Wylde's trick, add a overdrive to a distorted amp.

Still, I prefer logical, simple preamps (this feaures 3 channels right?)
by the way, preamp tubes come in doubles (2 tubes in each component) so i prefer "even" designs.

Also, High gain distortion is not begging for tube circuitry, I mean it's not the holy grail like it is for power amps (medium gain - blues etc...).
A good stompbox or FET booster can do the trick.
