LED/LDR for tremulus lune

i am building a tremulus lune and would like to know what is the most appropriate led/ldr pairing to use?

any cds cell with a ~5Klight and 500K or more dark should work.  As far as the LED is concerned it shouldn't really matter b/c of the current limiting trimmer.  Try a vactrol if you have any.

If you want to try a Vactrol, BG Micro has the correct one (VTL5C2) for $.59.

try a rectangular Red LED.  that is the easiest to tape to the photoresistor.

will a standard red LED be sufficient to work with the LDR (500k to 5K)?

yes.  but label the leads and try to put some heat shrink or tape around the led/ldr combo.  this way the combo will stay together if the the pedal gets bumped around.
