Just curious - why didn't you come here first?

The real bottom line here is that if you build and hook up the tester correctly and plug the germaniums in correctly, it works.

If it's not working, there are really only three possibilities:
(1) the tester is not built and/or hooked up correctly
(2) the transistors are not plugged in correctly
(3) one or more of the parts is bad. Notice that this is the LAST thing to check; it does happen, but it's far rarer than incorrect hookup. Maybe one out of 100 "it doesn't work..." messages here are solved by replacing a bad component.

I didn´t come here, because I just found this forum recently. That´s right, maybe I just have got some more patience for testing the devices....
