Where can I get the most original photocell for a Uni-Vibe? Mouser doesn't have them anymore, and Alliedelec.com does have them Here:

Which ones would be a good fit? From Fulltone's web site he makes a big deal of the fact that his cells are glass enclosed with tall sides like the ones on page 1393 of the Allied catalog. Again, does this matter?

Thanks for your help, I'm new to this old technology. :)

These are the ones that Mouser used to sell, now stocked by Steve at Small Bear electronics:

I saw this, but which one is this? Does it have the glass cover like the Fulltone units?

Hi--

The key factors in picking a photocell are the light and dark resistances and the time constant--the rate at which the device switches between its light and dark states. Michael F did a lot of research to come up with a device that gets as close as possible to the ones used in the original 'vibe. He won't, for good reason, name his source, so people have made use of "best available" commercial equivalents. The Mouser part has been used successfully and has made a lot of people happy. Unfortunately, CdS is an obsolete technology, and several sources for it (including whoever was making those devices for Mouser) have stopped production in the last few years.

I bought up the last couple of thousand that Mouser had, but eventually those will also be gone. I have already sent samples to Silonex for testing, and I expect they'll tell me which of their devices (both hermetic  and non-) are within shouting distance of the Mouser part.
