Has anyone built an obscenely over spec'd pedal?

I'm working on my next amp project and saw some really cool looking aluminum encased wirewound resistors rated at 25 watts. Then I got to thinking ... has anyone built a pedal that was just insanely overkill?  

You know, something like a rangemaster with those big ol wirewound resistors and some huge caps like the Solens which are non-polarized. Wonder if it would even sound different?

No advantage AFAIK. Yes, I built a "top of the line" Shaka once.

Metal film, gold contacts, etc...etc...

sounded worse. :shock:
