i just finished the tweak-o kit i got form steve and it sounds great, now.

this is how it happened- i built it with the mods in the directions on small bear but i added a couple of my own.  i socketed the transistors and diodes and replaced the 1n4001s in the kit with one 1n34a and 1 1n456.  i brought it to my friend's house last night because everyone was sleeping here.  I plugged his tele into a cheap peavy solid state and the pedal rocked.  nice drive, pretty warm.

then i tried it today with my dano copy and a mesa blues angel.  the overdrive was limp it sounded more like clean signal with a little undertone of distorted guitar underneath and wasn't as loud as the night before.  i checked the mods page here and tried the one about adding diodes to the loop.  I added one more of each diode and plugged it back in.  the distortion was back like the day before and now there was a hint of an octave effect added in.

my question is why such a difference with equipment?  and what exactly did I do that change the character of the pedal so much?
