This is from the new John Scofield release. The opening notes of the ride have a few notes that slightly swell & have a bit of a lower octave along with the note.

That's just classic sco Rat-tone with some volume/boomerang reverse tricks...

Scambler? Doubtful...

Sco has a fair bit of a pedal board. It makes it hard to pin down which pedal or combo of pedals are creating a tone at a given moment.

I had both the Line 6 FM-4 and the DL-4 pedals and that sound is in there, I'm pretty sure it is the FM-4 in one of it's synth modes. I love Sco's work but somehow never warmed up to either of the Line 6 pedals while I owned them.  They did their thing but it never sounded like world class tone to me. I think John's playing helps to cover this up!
