I just picked this up on ebay - not sure if I got a good price, or even if it's worth something at all.  You know, sometimes you just have to trust the voices in your head, and go ahead and buy it.

So does anyone know anything about this thing?

The ebay page with pics is here.

I know that you got a good deal. I don't know if you know this or not but Barcus-Berry became BBE (sonic maximizer) and there is a very good chance that there is a sonic maximizer in that unit. The sonic maximizer is a very simple circuit that can be made with like 4 opamps (2-dual opamps) and later they had New Japan Radio etch a good portion of the circuit on to silicon and it became there own chip which raised it to "magic" or "mojo" status. Even though it is a simple circuit it sounds great and for $42 you got a great deal indeed!
