Testing a transformer

I'm rebuilding my board for my Brassmaster clone and my transformer's leads got a little scrunched up so I'm not sure if I damaged it or not. How do I test it to make sure it's working properly or not before I order a new one?

do you have a function generator and a scope?

you could put a signal in one side and see wahts comign out the other. that should give you a good idea.
