no, it´s blue, but the clear coat adds a little yellow - and the evening sun did the rest...

Hi,

thanks for posting that pics! Lovely design - I realy like the clarity and the technical touch!
I still have to learn how to achieve such designs I also have in my mind with inkscape - but you can bet I'm gettin' better!;)
This is my first attempt:

Hello together,
wow great painted and designed enclosures  ;)

The last showed guts are really good lookin'  :)

At the moment I'm working on some of my finished pedals, because my printer denys working.
Just some optimizing like capacitor or tranistor-changing, shielded cable for my Dr. Boogey or something like that...
So, nothing new from me this time, but I got an selected Mullard OC71 BRITISH MADE-Transistor
which sounds better than my VALVO OC71 and has less noise, an extreme quiet one (I am lucky!), here it is:

Now this is the last time I show the Rangemaster, since I did it three times now with three different versions,
first with Mallorys and an VALVO OC44, then with Mullard-Caps, Styroflex-Cap and an VALVO OC71
and now with the (really!) last setup: Mullards, Styroflex and an historical correct Mullard OC71 BRITISH MADE.

Here it is (finished for a lifetime):

Actually, I got it from pedalpartsplus!

IIRC correctly, it's a design from a dingbat font. I etched it last year thinking I would use it somewhere, and just never found the right home for it. It's etched on 2oz copper clad then treated with Liquid Tin. It's attached with 3M Spray Adhesive.

Also, the knobs are a Hammertone paint, with a Sharpie line for an indicator  :icon_redface:

Quotehmm.... are you sure ? what about that toggle switch?
Yes I am  ;)

The toggle switch selects three different input-capacitors,
so the pedal has its classic boost-mode (original value),
treble boost-mode (more treble) and full boost-mode (full range, more bass)...
The switch is a high quality one from Miyama - will last forever (I mostly play classic-boost)  ;)

@bean:

Beautifull build!

So here's the next finished electronic (I still don't have a new printer yet, so I optimize some finished builds),
my "Rectifier IN A BOX" (Dr. Boogey) got some shielded wire at the inputs and outputs:

Thanks to John Lyons for his article about using shielded wire  ;)

Great trick on how to add a ground-wire separately!

Hey, Magnus, that one looks nice too but I'd use only one pot to ground the enclosure, not all of them, I keep the grounding spot as small as I can.

knealebrown

great work magnus, Verrrrrrrrrrrry tidy build. Why the trimmers off board though?
also what layout is that? i have a gauss makov layout sitting unpopulated at home just waiting for some pots to arrive before i start boogieing ;D

Why the trimmers off board though?

Probably because they would not fit in the spacing for them on the board?

Tell us how you go with that, I'm populating my Boogey board at the moment too, from the Gaussmarkov layout.   8)

It doesn't matter to the sound in my build, maybe in yours?

Quotegreat work magnus, Verrrrrrrrrrrry tidy build.
Thank you  :)

QuoteWhy the trimmers off board though?
As John Lyon has said, the pcb is made for mini-trimmers, not for "in-line-mounted" precision-trimmers...

Quotealso what layout is that?
It is my own layout strongly based on the one from 4thlevelmedia (bucksears)...

Some great new pedals here!

@bean: Amazing artwork! What´s the name of the dingbat font?

@dr boogey question: The gaussmarkov layout is a really good choice, as it has some improvements, one of them being a ground-shield. I used that pcb as well and my build is quiter than others that I´ve heard. I never would use those 20 turn precision trimmer in a Dr B, as Magnus did! It´s a pain in the ass. Use standard trimpots, that fit onto the pcb. I´d suggest long-live versions, maybe the Piher Cermets, because it´s a never ending game to trim a Dr B...

@Magnus: You should read the comment regarding the trimpot again! You didn´t get the joke  ;)

It is really much work, but for me its perfect, extreme finetuning possible  :)

Maybe I'm stupid cause I couldn't find it, hmm...
