They make some for lasers in brushed/ploshed brass and silver colour that engrave black very nicely.

I should go through our stock on Monday and take some pictures, show ya guys what some of the options are. The metals are pretty neat (and they are actually quite inexpensive, if you have a source).

Here's some Red Brass Marble I actually have sitting right in front of me (it engraves gold, or brass).

Give a man Fuzz, and he'll jam for a day... teach a man how to make a Fuzz and he'll never jam again!

My first build, (almost). I have done some kits and a few Ruby's, but this is my first real stompbox. It's a D*A*M Meathead with switchable input caps inspired by this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gv8EmyTKz8E but without the lowpass filter. I used a verolayout from Tagboardeffects. The graphics is made on a prepainted enclosure with a Unipaint Marker and a few layers of clearcoat on top.

And the guts:

Thanks to all of you who posts in this thread for the inspiration!

ahm. it's a mat that Shaun likes to photograph his pedals on. Looks like a certain type of special mushroom is on it.... (:   hehe

It's the dolphins that matters, you can skip the rest. Please note that baboons or Lady Gaga might work too depending on the pedal in question and the amount of meat you're wearing.

Are those a commercial product or some sort of sweet-ass DIY thing?  They'd be amazing on my Star Trek TOS inspired Phase Royale...

If somebody makes a mistake, help them understand what went wrong.  Show them how to do it right.  Be helpful.  Don't just say "you're wrong, moron."

Small Bear is the only place I've found them, but the only place I've looked for them, too. You'll want these knobs to go with them. Fits standard 3mm LEDs. I'm using water clear, which work, but perhaps something diffused would light up the knob more evenly.

Catching up with a few pedals Ive made recently

1 - Ju Ju Juice (BM Creamy Dreamer with a couple changes)

2 - Woolly Mammoth with input impedence trimmer

3 - Boss CE-2 clone (Madbean PCB)

4 - WEM Project V

The first two I have used toner transfer for the graphics. The CE-2 has a rate LED blinking with the LFO and is MN3007. Sounds awesome.
For all but the CE-2 I have used trimmers on the LEDs, I really like this, particularly if I am building it for someone else, so they can adjust the LED brightness to their taste/needs
The two with coloured cases are Hammond pre-made powdercoats.

mills

Built a bass fuzz thats a mammoth with a different tone control, gain hardwired at full, and an input taken roughly from gus's 3 transistor fuzz so it'll play better with buffers.

Tried SMD for the first time.  Its ugly, but surprisingly the thing fired up first try (after I remembered to plug in the 9V).  Worked out the initial kinks from tryin SMD.  My unsolicited thoughts... grat space saver on the "track side" of perfboard

Resistors (and caps) can save some room, but I think entirely SMD boards would get too crowded.  Transistors didn't really save that much space and were a bit of an akward fit.  I think good for tucking a part or two in that would otherwise make the layout akward (I always hate how much junk goes in an opamp feedback loop... smd diodes/etc hiding underneath would be great).  probly gonna try playing with a slightly smaller size though, if they'd fit between the leads of through hole parts  itd be glorious.

Amused myself this weekend by stuffing Fallstaff in a little box ...

Some of the parts are NOS parts I got from LucifersTrip. I could have used a dozen of the transistors I picked up from him, but I went with an unopened RCA 2N2270.
