Another ecth. Did also led plexi, but I'm not sure will I do it again. More sanding is not fun...

Great etch man! Really nice and clean, very cool! Looks similar to a recent one of mine! :)

Thanks man =)
I did notice your seeing eye. That was something my buddy wanted, so I had to do something similar.

Just checked out the pics on your photobucket page, some brilliant etches on there man, really great work! :) Are you using Ferric or NaOH? Or something else?

I use pnp and ferric. Messy and pnp-sheets are quite expensive here, but I've got some good results with them.

I use PnP and ferric too and I can NEVER achieve results like that....... Care to share your prep and transfer technique?  8)

Sure, there's nothing special how I do it.
I learned it from MarkM's tutorial.
First I use belt sander with 120 grit belt. You have to have light touch or it makes deep marks that are really painfull to sand down by hand.
I also clean the belt with a piece of wood every time I turn the pedal. Aluminum sticks to the belt and causes deep marks on the eclosure.
When it's flat and shiny, I start to use 400 grit wet sandpaper and a sanding block. I do circulal motion until all the belt sander straight lines are gone.
Then straight sanding with 600 grit wet paper (and block of course) until all the circulal marks are gone. Now it's flat enough.
Paint the sides with matt black spraypaint and leave it to dry. Then again some sanding with 600 grit paper & block until the top is clean.
I wash it with hand dishwashing soap before putting the transfer on.
That's the prep I do.

My clothes iron is almost at the max temp, between cotton and line.
I place the pnp on the enclosure and put the iron on it for a minute or so. Then I start to press it with some circulal motion.
I use the tip of the iron to really press down those letters. Lot's of ironing and checking. If there's bubble, use a needle so the air can come out and then press the bubble down with the iron (You probably still have to paint this part). Don't try to move it towards the sides. It leaves a trail on the tranfer that can't hold up the ferric.
After the enclosure has cooled down, I peel the pnp and take some spraypaint into a plastic cup. I fix all the errors with cotton wool sticks dipped in to the paint. If it ain't flat, shiny & deep blue, It probably won't hold up. So there's usually lots of dipping and tapping involved.

I think everyone knows the basics, but you have to pay attention to the little flaws after peeling the PnP off.

That works too. Remember to use chili coated peanuts.  :D

Whoa!  You're both wrong. Everyone knows that boiled peanuts are the correct method.

This was something that I ran into. Small bubbles in the PnP and no transfer there (it wasn't just the areas with bubbles either... there were other areas that didn't transfer).

Guess I need to break out the safety pin  ;)

I clean with Dawn dishsoap as well just before applying the transfer. Good to know someone else uses dish detergent/hand cleaner to clean their aluminum.

I'll probably need to decal this one or something.  I was intending to only be doing a dry fit, but things got out of hand and now I don't want to pull anything out!

This is 2 Engineer's Thumbs crammed into the same box.  Both have individual in/out jacks, but I also wired the switching jacks so that if you don't plug into the first compressor's output, it will pass the signal over to the second compressor's input.

The additional jacks, plus the size of the doubled board made this a PITA fit.  Additionally, I'd like to take this opportunity to say that misplacing a double link by one row UNDER an IC sucks.  Especially when you've built two of the exact same circuit where one works and the other does not, despite them looking identical.  Grrrr.

I'm liking that this post is the first on the page after what it's commenting on.  Else it was a prediction that didn't come true.  ;)

The French connection

Last one for a bassman friend whose name is Poisson and nicknamed Pescado. Colorsound bass fuzz + Hog's foot booster. What's wrong with plastic washer?  :icon_redface:

I know, but the pedal i built does not boost...it just increases volume!

There's nothing wrong with white washers - some people are sticklers. There is a problem with your enclosure though.

...It's too awesome. Those knobs are so sick. Are they guitar knobs that you painted on?
