That happens in 120/240 houses also.

For more fun: if the White wire (which is Black in my house) falls-off, the two "120V" sides split the 240 according to load. So 50V to the big 120V coffee-pot and 170V to the idle 120V amplifier. BOOM! And coffee water not even warm.
