I was tired of the "trial and error" method to set the bias for a given transistor in my projects, so I decided to write a program to compute the resistors in a Voltage Divider stage, a Big Muff stage and a Fuzz Face circuit, which are the most common configurations in transistors-based pedals.
The app let you choose the transistor gain hFE, the supply voltage Vcc and the voltage drop across base and emitter Vbe. The result can be written to disk.
It works fine to estimate Si transistors bias. Leaky Ge estimations may need the total gain to be entered, that is the real gain plus the leakage current. See RG great article on the Fuzz Face. Fuzz Face calculation involves many variables and is very sensitive to small changes.
If you want to try it, dowload it freely at http://www.geocities.com/guitarfxs , and BTW read how the bias of a Fuzz Face is calculated.
I hope it helps diy'ers to speed up their projects.
