Hi,
As some will know, the SPL transient designer uses two envelope followers, subtracts one response from the other, and uses this control signal to boost or attenuate the portions where the signals differ... affecting the attack and decay - depending on how the two EF's are set up.

I built one on my Nord Modular synth/effects unit, which works fine, so I have the structure figured. (but obviously it's digital, and works at line level...)
I'm very picky about transients on bass guitar (amongst other thing), and these units do things a little differently to compressors.
I wondered if anyone has been here before... or knew whether there were any suitable easy "EF" circuits to start investigating, in order to try to build a pedal workalike? I figured that discrete components will bring some extra tweakability too...

Grant.
