Hi all

I hope some one can help me here. I am very new at this sort of thing.
I have done a quick search on this board and google, I have been unable to find any thing to help me.

I went in to my local electrical store to get a 51pf cap to make a tube screamer, but they did not sell any. He told me that it was OK to use a 56pf cap and there would be no difference. He said that I could substitute caps as long as I got one with a higher rating.....

Is this true? What are the rules as far as cap substituting goes?

Thak you for any help

It is fine.

the rules for substituting caps is get a value as close as possible and with an equal or higher voltage rating.

Thats just the most basic explanation.
