it uses a CD4047 multivibrator....  I'm not sure what to call it, but I'll have more clips, and maybe a schematic in a few days to post.

Pretty wild sounding Brian. :icon_cool: It's got that Metasonix thing going on. Butt Probe is already taken.....
how about Bizzar-O-Tone.

Name it according to the way it sounds. To me it sounds like cables vibrating back and forth (yeah, I realise that's somewhat like guitar strings ;) ) but then again, you can't really call it Cable-Twanger..

I think it sounds like the kind of effect you normally hear in techno or drum and base type of stuff, usually single string melodies played over and over with an over the top distortion that sounds like a heavy machinery. Why don't you call it something with an industrial vibe? Piston (over)driver, or the drone? Here's a good one: weapons of mass production...  :icon_redface: :icon_rolleyes:

robbiemcm

Piston Overdriver and Industrial Vibe both sound cool to me, but there isn't much of a piston sound in there, so I would think the latter more suitable.

That's a cool sound.  Out of control, yet... not.   ???

Sounds great. A little like the Ugly Face or Crash synch, but with a unique tone.

jmusser

That is wicked! Not only Ugly Face and Crash sync, but a little PMW too. Very unique sounding.

and of course the schematic.  The original clip as a little different than the schematic posted.

Sorry for the huge file.

I am pretty sure that i will be 2nd guessed on this a little bit when it comes to using the dual opamp.  it certainly could work with a single, and you could drive the led through a cap>small value pot>possible filtering.  I didnt experiment arround with that much, but my inital impression of it was that i couldnt get a sweep i liked using a single opamp.

Edit... oh yea, the original clip was recorded direct, the new ones through an amp.  so the original was a little more in your face. I still cant decide what to use in R13's place... anywhere from 10k to 100k depending on how nasty you want it.

The 4th clip reminds me of a Tool song I can't remember the name of. Cool circuit!

That twanging noise you get on some notes in sync4 is brilliant. It's tempting to build it purely for that, however I need to get some simpler pedals under my belt still.
