Where can I get the metal boxes for building effects? Vintage style knobs?

I am starting out in electronics stuff and want to begin with building simple vintage effects clones.  Where the heck do I find the metal boxes that house all those effects pedals?  I'm looking for as many different styles as I can find so that I have a few choices of course.  Help please.  Thanks. - Davey
