Fourth Grade Capacitor Question!

Is there a certain direction when on a circut board, capacitors, and resistors must face?
If so, how would I know the North and South ends are facing the right directions?
And also, Why?

Resistors any old way, caps too unless they are electro's in which case note the '+' and '-' on the cap and seat it according to the schem you are using.
