tiny amp suggestions?

i've looked at a lot of the miniature amp and booster circtuits around the diy sites.  i've looked at the ones at runoffgroove, tonepad, GGG, and a couple more.  i can't decide which would be best for what i want.  so i'm hoping you guys could help me.

here's what i want (or something around it):
"B" size enclosure
2 8-ohm speakers (around 1 inch apiece)
9-volt powered
dpdt slide switch to turn on and off and control the led
status led
1 volume pot/knob
1 1/4" input jack
1 1/8" headphone jack that disconnects speakers when something is plugged in

i think that's it.  as you can see, it's not really that much.

here's my biggest question:
no matter what circuit i decide on, what would i have to do/add to make it safe for the speakers?

thanks in advance!

mkII little gem would be your best bet.

thanks for the reply.  would 2 1" 8ohm speakers handle it okay?

Depends...they'd have to handle .5wRMS or so a piece.  Do you have a link for the speakers you were planning on using?  If you need something a little weaker, you could do the ruby or the regular little gem, that would give you .5wRMS, so each speaker would only need to take .25wRMS.

I would say little gem or the ruby.
I have my ruby built into a box with a cheap old 6x9 and it works good.
My little gem is mounted in a box and i have ran my 4x12 cab with it. or headphones with both also.

if the mkII is more powerful, that's probably not the best for me.  i'm not concerned with driving any huge cabinet or anything.  i'm just looking to drive two tiny speakers that will fit in the case with everything else.

i'm thinking of using something like this:

just wiring two in series.

i just ordered these:

they will probably suck, but they're cheap.  they're 8ohm and have a .4W power rating.

I built ruby with two 4ohm 5w speakers salvaged from old genius PC speakers...and it's sounds fizzy :)

You'll be glad that you didn't get the RS ones, they only handle .125wRMS, I checked them out for myself a while ago.  I'd build a ruby probably if I was you.

The little gem is a 1x386 amp
The ruby is a modified 1x386 little gem with a buffer at the front too which allows the use of pedals in front of it
The little gem mkII is a little gem with 2x386.
