i've been looking for a schem and especially a layout for a super simple and low parts count tone generator, function generator, or white/pink noise generator, with just one pot to go from low freq to high freq- in the audible range of course.  i'd build a 4ms triwave pico generator but I need a super small board for the enclosure i'm using- an Action Figure!  any help appreciated!

Not sure if this will fit the bill, but this is the simplest square wave oscillator I've seen:

damn....isn't it possible to post an unhosted pict here?

dude, e-mail me and i'll attach a jpeg of a very simple two transistor oscillator circuit to you.

I would build something out of a 555 timer chip along with a pot, a resistor, and two caps. That should fit in an action figure.  :icon_surprised:

Google for 555 oscillator and you'll get tons of results.

Here's one from the top of Google:

BTW: The cap on pin 5 is optional.
