stereo jack trick for DC jack?

If I wire my stereo input jack for a DC jack such as most do for a battery, will this prevent mA drain on my power supply?  1700mA is plenty for what pedals I use but I was just curious if this theory would work..........

Yes.  Unplug the input jack and the pedal will power off with no drain on your supply.
