Is SB stocking the 4301 now?  I'll have to go check - that's an awesome IC.

I've been using the THAT 2252 RMS detector and 2180VCA on the regen line of my phase shift project.

Stephen, you've probably already seen this - not exactly stompbox, but Roger Foote over at the Prodigy Pro Group DIY forum has painstakingly tweaked out what looks like a very nice 4301-based circuit, if somebody's looking for a rack/studio compressor with serious options:

There's also a simple LM3914-based Gain Reduction meter to go with it.
