as you can see this doesn't use a pot but a switch with 7 steps. would you mod it to turn a pot instead of this switch? or would you just pot resistors in parallel on the switch so the total resistance goes down when the rocker goes forward? what effect would you use it for?

i know you guys got some sick ideas and strange sound altering fantasies! :)

I would do a step-by-step volume or effect controller.
As long as it's easy to control.

Or you could use only a few switches to separate the steps better. Presets volumes would be cool.

Nice.

its from a sowing machine.

if i want a nicer range in the steps (now they are really close and i have to rock the pedal quite a bit before i hit the first switch) i can just bend those lids further apart. and i can make another contact on the rocker itself so i get 8 steps instead of seven.

what i was already thinking of:
something with presets
a feedback looper thats allways on but no connection until i hit the first lid of the switch.
crazy little effects (circuit snippets?) in parallel or series for ver the top noise. so every lid has its own effect.

id probably paint it first, then throw it at someone.

if that doesnt work, ill probably point and laugh at it for about half an hour.

:D  ;)
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

Cliff Schecht

Make a step filter that sequentially jumps through 7 (or 8) different wah positions.

Maybe some kind of percussive noisemaker?  Are there detents at each of the positions?  Depending on the feel, it might be cool to figure out a way to briefly kill the single with each click on the pedal, or otherwise transmit the feel of the pedal's travel into the sound.

A ring mod with tunable oscillators for each position a la z.vex's ringtone could also be neat.

3 options..(a) u could do an A/B/C/D/E/F/G/H.. box :P to select between whatever you want. (b)

But make sure you throw it hard, so you can laugh more time until he/she wants to throw it back..

(c)make  a good wah from it.

...well...here's what "i" would do....

1) go to refrigerator
2) grab a six pack
3) drink six pack
4) forget what i was originally doing

...but thats just "me"  :D

actually that won't work. because the switch goes in steps it means if you switch on the next connection, the previous one stays connected too.

so adding inputs of different effects in parallel is possible
feedback loop with resistance steps is possible
a wah or any other effect can be made in steps instead of a variable resistance (pot) like a trem or chorus...
a volume pedal with steps is possible (but i don't think i would like this becaus you can't really feel when you get to the next step on that switch. you would hear it and it would be quite hard to keep it on that same spot for some time.

but it is possible to mount a led and LDR inside. and then let a piece of plastic with a print to gradually let more light trough attached to the rocker go between led and LDR. since it has thos holes on top as you can see in the first picture this would be quite easy. using this together with the switch can also be interesting (wah/anti-wah? 2 different parameters of one effect?)

modding it to have a potmeter would be possible i think but i really wouldn't know how. right now i think a feedback loop would be the esiest thing to do since it doesn't need an extra stompswitch or pot.

comon i need some creative ideas!

I've got no idea what the hell to do with it, but that thing is awsome!

Lemme qualify what I'm about to suggest with the understanding that I'm still a total noob.  That being said, if there are seven steps and there are seven intervals in a scale, could you do something pitch related with it? i.e. A B C D E F G etc etc.

I would turn it into a wah or volume pedal...maby both.

mod it to turn a POT some how though.
