transistor substitutions for Tycobrahe Octavia?

I've searched the archives and can see nothing on transistor substitutions - I don't have any 2N5087 or 2N5088s, I have loads of BC107/8/9 and 2N3906/7

anyone?

Use sockets + try what you have at hand (and if it doesnt work get the real one)

2n5088 high gain NPN = the BC109 is probably closest, has more gain than the bc107/8
2n5087 high gain PNP = well the closest thing you listed is the 2n3906, as its the only PNP but it has much less gain than a 2n5087

no idea the characteristics of a 2n3907

I'd wire it PNP, go with 2 3906's and go with seljer's reccomendation, the bc109 for the NPN. sockets are always a good thing.
