I'm looking to use the Torchy vero layout for my next TS project and have a few questions:

It says in the notes that there is a reverse polarity protection diode added, I assume this is D1 - the 1n4001.  Does this diode then have nothing to do with the clipping?

The reason I ask is that I would like to take the clipping diodes off the board and use a rotart switch for selecting different clipping types.  I would assume that I could 'patch-in' the connections from my rotary switch to D4, then place jumpers where the other diodes would normally go.  Since I'm a noob at this - I just don't want to remove a diode that is providing some kind of circuit protection.  Maybe someone could help me out with what exactly the reverse polarity protection diode does - along with which one it is.

Thanks

Yes D1 is the reverse polarity diode. Its there to save the circut
incase you were to use the wrong power adapter or hook up + and - wrong.

No - there are 3 diodes for assymetrical clipping.
Remove the clipping diodes D2, D3 & D4.
Do NOT fit jumpers.
Rotary switch would connect to where D2 was.
