True bypass Vox 847 ...is this right?

Hi everybody,

I have performed a true bypass mod into my Vox 847. Everything seems to work fine but  I thought a true bypassed pedal was supposed to let the signal go through even if it doesn´t have batteries. Without batteries my pedal lets the signal go through when the 847´s switch is in the OFF position but not when it is in the ON position. Is this normal?

Please somebody let me know...

Thanks a lot,

Paul.

That behavior is perfectly normal. True bypass means there is a direct connection between input and output when off, and signal goes through the effect when on. If you don't have any batteries in, the signal still goes to the circuit while in the on position, but the circuit will rarely have any output without being given any power.
