Wow!  :o
Any chance of an op-amp substitution?
I don't think those are available in the U.S.  :icon_confused:
Looks real interesting though.....similar to C100XL?

MartyMart

From the data sheet, it would seem that a TL072cp would also be fine :D
It's LinCMOS, so a good high impedance dual OA should work ....\

Possible replacements:

IC1 - LM358/TL062/TL072/TL082/RC4558 etc. (current consumtion variable)
IC2 - LM358

Yes, this is simplified remake of C101XL :-)

Nice! :)
How about the J175.....any Substitute for those you could suggest?

KerryF

Awsome Puzzle!  Im happy with my So Simple Comp V2.

Any chance of a So Simple pedal series, like a So Simple Tremolo, or a So Simple Chorus, or something?

puzzle87

JFET replacement: 2N5460/2N5461/2N5462

So Simple Series :-) ?
  compressor - OK
  tremolo - EA Tremolo? (ROG)
  chorus - hm... hardly
  phaser - maybe

Barcode80

nope, the J175 appears to be a p-channel JFET

markm

I think a J176 may work possibly?

puzzle87

J176 with Ugs(off)>3V - fully usable.

Looks great. Is this comp 'tuned' primarily for guitar, or could it perform equally well on other stuff, like bass or vocals? Also, how about powering at 18V (two batteries) for more headroom? Nice job on the layout, too. 8)

Thanks

Compressor work with guitar and bass. This is not vocal compressor.
For bass increase C4 to 470nF and C10 to 2ยต2.
18V usable, but headroom is not increased.

Timebutt

Are there any build reports on this compressor?
Been looking around for a while and maybe this would be the best choice to build for my bass guitar? :)

Looks very nice, please let us know the purpose of Q2, I can't get my head round that. Were the
TLC27M2s  freebies from Texas? :icon_biggrin:
