hi guys-
its sounding pretty good but im just trying to get the optimum out of my tonebender mk11 build pnp pos ground a la colorsound schematic.......http://aronnelson.com/gallery/steeves-sack/mkii_lyt

i have done many searches here so just a couple points i still need help with-

i have a very noticeable amount of hiss which doesnt really change even when i change out many germ transistors to try and weed out leaky or noisy ones. i have Q3 at - 4.3 volts and sound is thick and gainy with good sustain and cleans up well. before it was a bit crazy but i pre gained it with a fixed 22k resistor and this appears to have helped clean up etc.

would the BFC [ big freakin cap!] maybe help in this situation?

if so , can one of you tell me how to place it in the circuit please ?
i am not sure of how to orientate it with regard to polarity and positioning 'across the power rails' whatever that means!!

any other anti hiss advice welcome also-
many thanks !

Hey Rob !!!

could you please tell me where you put the fixed resistor ??

I too built this circuit and it is just way too much for me with the fuzz knob anywhere above 9:00 o' clock

thanks
Dan..........

hi dan,
i just tacked it onto the wire coming from switch [input] to circuit thus....

switch --------------------------------------------------[wire2circ]-------------------------------------------resistor----circuit

hope that helps
cheers - rob
ps , can anyone help with my orig question??

Try a 220uf 16v cap, " - " side to the -9v battery and "+" side to
the "positive ground" + strip
Also put a .1uf poly (NP) along side it.

well...., decided to take out the 22k input gain resistor i put in and noise has just about disappeared!
sounding really good now , cleans up well but just a bit mad on full volume on geetar...
will now maybe try to research / look into a 'voltage divider' ?? input mod to knock down gain [ whatever that is !! ]

  Made from fixed resistors, kinda looks like a pot:

->100%  Input
              100k
              Output 50%   ->
              100k
           _Ground_
  Or...can be a pot w/3 wires [wired and acts the same as guitar volume]
  See EZ Face W/Input Gain Knob
  Or...can be a pot with two wires [just a series resistance at the input]:
  Input>~Resistance>Circuit
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

thanks for that pete..
will check out the ez face pot and get to it  .
