Is there a way to test cap value with a DMM? I got a bag of old blue caps from a friend but they are not marked with values. Id like to try them in a circuit. I tested them and they seem to be in the .01 to .1 range. Id post a pic but dont know how. Thanks

PS -
I have a cheap meter that only has settings for resistance, DCV and ACV. do I need a better meter?

Depends on the meter. Most won't go below something like .01 or .047...
There is a cap meter schem i n the Layouts gallery tha will adapt any meter to read PF and small value caps.

Are there any marking on the caps? If so what? Maybe they are just codes...

thanks john, there is no markings, just a dull dark blue. I think I saw a similar one in my old EH electric mistress.
