I just bought a new soldering station that came with the copper shaving type tip cleaner but I don't know how to use it.  Do you just poke the tip into the brillo pad type mess or do you wipe the tip on it like you do with a sponge?

What's the difference between the two?  Is there any difference at all?

Thanks

Did you get yours with one of the Circuit Specialist Xytronics?  Mine came with one of those.  I just stick it in or wipe it.  Works great.   :)

poke in/wipe/do both. i usually grip the iron wih one hand ad swirl the tip around in the shavings. i get far better reslts since i started using it instead of a spounge. also, you dont have to worry about the tip being cooled.
