Which types of pedals are better for DIY?

Weird shit, that's what it makes sense to build.
Really. Where DIY shines, is if you are doing something so different, that there isn't a commercal market. Like Tim Escobedo's Circuit Snippets, and some of those monthy competion entries. THe analogy with DIY car building is valid.
Also, there is the physical side, like pedal boards tailored EXACTLY to your own personal needs.

But as to what I would not like to build personally - that depends on ones own skills and interests. I'm not a fan of anything requiring matched fets, or other hand selected components, and I'm not a programmer, so that is a problem for digital stuff..
