Hey carrejans, one of the guitars hanging in my "Wallpaper" photo is a Simon and Patrick I bought while visiting Haight Ashbury. Not a bad guitar for the money (same company as Seagull right?). Then I got my Larrivee (hey aren't they both Canadian eh?) then I got my Blueridge (best all solid wood $500 guitar I have ever played).
If it ain't broke...   ...it will be soon.

Yes, I think the same factory as Godin, Seagull, Norman. I like it very much. I played different brands at my shop; and this one sounded the most natural; the others sounded more "plastic". Mine is a semi-acoustic and costed about 500€; and it is worth all the money.
But nowadays I have some buzzing while playing the lower strings. It is not string-buzzing; but I think something of the electronics in the guitar is resonating. Will have to bring it back to the shop someday.
Have fun playing!

My two favorite guitars:

syndromet

I bought an ultra cheap Chinese guitar, and the paint made it look like plastic. It was painted with a thick layer of blue paint, then a thick layer of white, then a thick layer of black. So I reliced it. I think it turned out pretty good, even if I overdid it a little.

Gilles you set a very high standard; I will never catch up  :'(

kleinberger

I wanted a Klein electric. Went low budget and hacked away at a headless Spirit Steinberger. Put in some Bill Lawrence pickups, and I was off to the races! I call it my Kleinberger:

It actually sounds and plays really good. Some might feel quizy looking at it though.

I've never seen a Strat with a Gibson-style humbucker before - looks ace :)

1986 Strato Japan Limited Edition '72, 3 Seymour Duncan SSL-1, my best friend

1995 Tele Japan, Seymour Duncan Broadcaster at the Bridge, SD vintage at the neck, I've stripped out the black poly paint from the body and tinted it with a waterbased wood color, a more than thin nitro matt transparent paint over.

This one is obviously not finished yet, I have a large headstock maple neck to put on but it is drying. The body is painted with an alcool based mixture we called, in Italy, "gommalacca", I think it is known in US with a name like "French..." something, same stuff as violins paint.  Gibson humbuckers on.

Squier 51 with a SD JB at the bridge and a SD quarter pound at the neck. I've paid it 70 euro (with its original pickups) but now it sounds Killer!

Its *supposedly* a Sakai, which was a japanese make that were around in the late sixties early seventies which Hohner imported under their name. Here is a website with a picture of a sakai model:

Jeeeeeez!!!
I had one like this in the early 80s! Mine had 3 pickups with 2 controls and a 3 separate switches to select the magnets, I sold it  (I was a stupid kid)  to a guy  who destroyed it against the floor at the end of a gig at school.... :icon_eek:

I'm selling it if you are interested!?

My camera is a current hog, for the last many photoshoots, I had to poach the batteries in 190 degree hot tap water [in thick plastic sealed bag of course], about 30 seconds poaching time, this has allowed me to repeatedly get enough current [from otherwise 'dead' batteries] to take and transfer the photos.
Not recommended I'm sure, but I let the batteries stand in bag for 2 minutes after cooking, the first few times.

How do the GFS Dream 90 sounds like? I was interested in but I'm not sure about the quality of that pickup. Is it similiar to a real P90? (BTW, what kind of wood your guitar is made of?)
thanks

KerryF

Its a great pickup.  I mostly use it on the neck position and very rarely use the bridge so I would say the neck is worth it, but if you have a humbucker in the bridge, I would say to leave it there for leads and stuff.  But they sound very nice.

Its a Flamed Maple top, Silver Leaf Maple center, and Poplar wings.

I'd like to put a p90 on this one I've just finished, so the Dream90 could be the perfect fit with its humbucker size:

thank you

KerryF

Should sound great!  More strat-like than those humbuckers, definately.

hendrix2489

My Guitar that i built from the ground up, its a strat style body, with lace sensors & a texas special in a pearl pickguard.  Warmoth  birdseye neck with fender tuners.
