That Gumby Head is awsome, did you do this from a template? and if so, where can I get it!!!

Actually, I simply traced a photo of an Electra headstock, and modified it a bit to make the template for my first guitar.  Then modified it a bit more to fit the smaller wood I had for the next guitar, and have been using that same template for a while now.  I might have a scan of it somewhere I could email you, if you wanted, I suppose.  I'm planning on working with a slightly different style now; it's a similar design, but "pulled in" a bit at the top for straighter string pull as I've been having a bit of binding at the nuts with trem usage lately.  I really should switch to 6-on-a-side style stocks, but the only one I've seen that I like is the big CBS style fender ones, and I don't want to *totally* cop another design.

http://homepage.mac.com/sfjoshua/PhotoAlbum4.html  (<- my best so far)

These are all DIY builds.  Nothing compared to the work I see over at the Projectguitar.com forums, but they get the job done.

I love the german carve on your current axe!  Nicely done.

1972 Guild Starfire IV

90's Gibson SG Jr reissue, and my knee

1974 Guild D25M, featuring my feet

i LOVE LOVE guild.  I used to have a guild s-100 (sg style) and it was at the time my favorite guitar.  We were on tour with a band that i absolutely idolize, and the lead singer convinced me (with a wad of cash) to sell it to him.  It's the only guitar i ever regret selling, and i've gotten rid of some beauties.  I can't complain, though, because this Starfire is what dreams are made of.  the sg isn't going anywhere either :)

Alright, I'll play this game but I must admit, I'm a gear whore. I've got 12 guitars right now, some are back in Austin but soon, all will be with me.

1985 Gibson ES-335 Dot Reissue - an amazing guitar, what else is there to say (pickups are SD Jazz in neck and '59 in the bridge)

1986 Fender American Standard Strat (2 point bridge, SD Little '59 in the bridge now with push/pull on volume)

1993 Ibanez RV470 (I've never seen another one, I'd love to find one... Japanese Strat beater)

1991 Charvel Fusion Deluxe (BL L500XL bridge, SD Hot Rails neck, preamp, Japanese)

2001 Dean Evo 7 (needs new pickups, amazing neck through all mahogany quilted maple top for $350, I couldn't say no)

1970's pre-lawsuit Pan Les Paul copy (restored, note the slanted neck pickup, Japanese)

1970's Guild D-50 (Brazilian rosewood back and sides, fat neck, rich full sound and projects like an acoustic should)

1996(?) S&P Martin D-28 copy (rosewood back and sides, spruce top, huge crack through back)

1990's Martin D-15 (A steal for $250 in mint condition)

2001 Hohner HW 460

1970's(?) Hofner classical ($25, why not?)

2001 Squier P-bass special

Instead of posting pictures of my strat, tele, etc. (which aren't very interesting pictures anyway) I'll post my favorite cheap guitar find:

A 1960 Eko from Italy with an aftermarket pickup. Stuffed with foam to prevent feedback. I love this one. :)

My two babeĀ“s, a Parker PM-20 Pro and a Warwick 4 string rock bass.... My Tama kit is in its cases.

My little rig...

A short sound clip of the Parker direct to my EVJ modded head and me in pijama... :icon_lol:

An old pic of 1/4 of my current collection. There's only a couple of guitars on there that have been sold, but the rest are still in the "herd".

I love those guitars! I have about 4 of each (red, black, sunburst, and blonde) and in maple & rosewood. Fender only made them for a few years and the features are exceptional! They have vintage tuners, H-S-S pickups with a coil tap, modern radius, chunky necks, and full size tremolo blocks. Every time I find one on the bay, I snatch them up. Although they are MIM, the quality is great. These were the grandfathers to the Jimmy Vaughan models.

Nope, when we bought a house, we bought one with 4 rooms knowing full well that 1 of those would be for all the guitars, amps, pedals, etc... Now with 2 kids, the garage is in the process of being converted to accommodate the "herd".

SolderBoy

My latest:

The Ox:  New Guinea Rosewood body, EB-O style pickup (side-winder), Active/passive with fet pre.  Carbon fiber reinforced neck.  Only had a set of chrome tuners... black ones on the way...

people ask why i use $1,000 guitars, insisting that its not about image, but rather the music you play...

news flash! : I DONT CARE.

im badass+my guitars are badass=sonic DESTRUCTION

its 90% about image, and you all know it.

how much do those strats go for?

I've seen them start to go up in price over the last few years. I got the latest one for close to $400. Of course, a few years back, I was getting them for no more than $200 shipped  :(

jonathan perez

400 bucks is STILL really good...thanx man, i appreciate the pictures/info!

youve got me started on a quest to find the ultimate strat hahaha...

Here's my main guitar, Parker Mojo Nitefly:

My second favorite, Ibanez S470FM, flame maple, british racing green.

This is my FrankenStrat, built it from parts, has a fabric covering the body.

This is an old EX370FM that I bought a neck for to make it a fretless electric.

I had this HRR Strat for a while, traded it for an amp.

I've got about four more, but I don't have pictures of them...

Mmmm...Nite Fly! Its on my list  :icon_biggrin:

oldrocker

My Magnum Flying V.   I added the old Kahler Flyer and Grover tuners and rewired electronics.  And my '72 refurbished Tele with American standard bridge and all knew hardware.  Removed discolored blond paint and stained and poly coated,  added black pickguard and rewired electronics with Fender dual coil noiseless pickups.

Solderboy - is a that a DIY build?  Where'd you get the EB-0 p'up?  I'm thinking about one for a current build.  (Half because I want the sound, half because I want the chrome!)
