It's truly amazing to me how much my wife knows about guitars and music related devices such as amps & effects......
Alot of it she's picked from me by just being around it because, she's not a musician.
My kids are the same way, both play music and are very eager and interested in learning electronics stuff.
My youngest is 5 and can identify what different components are......it's scary!

Teach them! Just think how much time that will free up for you, once they become proficient. All those boxes you can etch !
One caveat however. During the "learning curve" your troubleshooting time might go up exponentially .
No free lunch, I guess...
