I was thinking about building a compressor, and two came to mind. The Orange Squeezer and the Soul Preacher. Pretty related circuits, I believe...But on the new Soul Preachers being made right now, they have a switch to control the attack.

Any idea what the control is changing?
Also, OS VS SP? Which is better, to those who have owned/built 'em?

Lastly, about decals, i've been wanting to put my own graphics on my pedals, but I'm not sure how to go about doing it.
I was looking at these products...

But how do I use them? Have any of you used these before?

I had both originals. The Orange Squeezer was much better to me. The Soul Preacher had a great name, was EH, but was horrible for me. Maybe something was wrong with it.

I'd be surprised if the new one is the same circuit as the original.

Me too.   I found that the Pulsar reissue circuitry was in no way related to the original EH Pulsar.

Must have been.
The layout I have in the gallery works real well and sounds Great!
With the assistance and advice of Mark Hammer, it's actually a pretty darn good comp but, it's a helluvalot more components than the O/S.

^How would you say it compares to an OS? I was looking at that layout, for the SP.

Any thoughts on the issue of decals?

I was going to write an essay on the different techniques for applying graphics to the enclosure but then I thought of another approach. If you haven`t already, take a look at the pictures thread. There you can see examples of, just about, all the techniques employed by pedal builders to finish off a project. Pick out the ones you like, sometimes there`s an explanation as to how it was done. If not someone will be able to explain.

The materials you linked to in your post all have different uses depending on what you want to achieve. Do you want light lettering on a dark background? Do you want a very colourful finish or something understated?

I think the "decal softener" is diluted vinegar but I`m prepared to be corrected.

I've gotten good results with the laser printer decal stock that Small Bear sells.

^So how do you go about using it?

^^Nothing really too complicated. White or black text on a solid color, mostly. Maybe a logo.
Something like these ones:

don`t know old/new original schemos...

("time" was answer to OP`s quest about the switch function; came across that more detailed pic 10 minutes before posting it).
