Nick Oliveri sound

Hey folks, a friend has asked me to make a pedal for them and has asked me to try and find a Nick Oliveri type bass sound (she plays bass). Any suggestions on what to try? She really doesn't like the Big Muff sound for bass and finds that the Rat doesn't do enough either.

How about the ROG Flipster? I haven't built it myself but judging from the sound clips and build reports there might be some pretty Olivieri-esque sounds available.

Ampeg V-4B cranked with Fender P-Bass. I'm not sure there's a pedal that sounds like that...

The Ross Distortion can do a decent imitation of the cranked Ampeg sound.  I hated that pedal on guitar, traded it to a friend, and on bass it is killer.

Thanks guys. Yeah I know he uses amp distortion but my friend just wants me to try and get close with a pedal. Thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking of making a DOD OD250 with a metal can op-amp, LED clipping and changing the input cap to suit bass. Crazy idea!?

Again, try the Ross distortion, the black ones go cheap, and it has that "sound".

it's no V4B he uses. last year on Pukkelpop festival he asked for an SVT Classic and he was in heaven when he heard the vintage "blue line" SVT i set up for him

and he didn't use any pedals. (oh and this was with mondo generator, i am not sure he always uses the same setup)

i am not a sound guy, i'm a backliner. i provide the amps, drums, keys, percussion... set up those things and do repairs. on allmost every big festival in belgium (and sometimes a bit further, this year i've done concerts in prague, vienna, eindhoven, tibnin (lebanon) and kabul).

Wow, I was there this summer, caught up with discofreq and bieke.  We checked out Lord Bizaire's collection, amazing place.

So how does one get about to work as a backliner on all the big festivals in our precious little country?
