Small Stone mod to prevent delay and/or volume drop?

My Russian Small Stone phaser has, of course as all SS, a big volume drop which I'd love to get rid of. Where can I find a mod for this?

Also, it starts with a delay. For some reason I stomp on it and it only starts phasing after about 5 or so seconds. Faster the speed, faster it starts. I heard it's normal but is there any way to fix this?

Um, is it possible the stompswitch also controls the power to the circuit?
