OK. here's the deal. i made a shin-ei fuzz and i need 2 Q1's on a switch because the silicon sounds psycho at low volume but mushy at high volume and the germanium sounds a little dead at low volume but kills the silicon at high volume. this is my idea. will it work? 3PDT?

oh, and the bias didnt budge when i was swapping the transistors.

IT WORKS!!!!!!!!! i hooked up a 3PDT switch and i can successfully switch between a silicon and a germanium for Q1. no pop, volume loss/gain, just a noticable difference in tone from one to the other, both equally wicked!!!!!!!!!! i couldnt be happier. i am going to do this to ALL of my pedals where the bias will allow. Oh, im calling it "the harsh carpets switch" for now but im sure it was done 30 years ago.
