Dead Op-Amp? or the case of the Dirty Pins

I have a possibly dead LM308 that I got from a surplus place a while ago.  It does not work when I put it into a socket, but the pins appear to be corroded.  Is there a way to tell for sure?  Is there a way to clean the pins?

Any help is appreciated.

Dead op-amps are certainly possible, but so are dirty pins not making contact.

Try cleaning the corrosion using a light abrasive like steel wool or some super-fine sandpaper (go lightly so you don't break the pins).
